Trump postpones G7 summit, invites India to join the group

US President Donald Trump has postponed the G7 Summit scheduled to take place in June and invited other countries including Russia to join the meeting.

This was declared after German Chancellor Angela Markel rejected Trump’s invite for in-person meeting amid COVID-19 crisis.

Trump believes that the current group is outdated and doesn’t represent what’s going on in the world.

G7 group which the US hosts, includes France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada, and the UK.

Trump said he would like to invite Russia, South Korea, Australia and India to join an expanded summit in the fall. It could happen in September, either before or after the UN general assembly.
