Alexei Navalny, Russia’s opposition political leader in coma over suspected poisoning

In a new Russia’s opposition leader, Alexei Navalny has been admitted to the intensive care unit in Siberia. The politician is currently in a coma on ventilator support after he collapsed in his flight back to Moscow from Tomsk. The plane was immediately called to a halt following the incident.

Navalny’s spokeswoman has actively been releasing updates on the condition of the opponent leader.

She alleged that the politician must have consumed something from tea he drank earlier in the morning. “Doctors are saying the toxin was absorbed quicker with hot liquid,” she tweeted.

Vyacheslav Gimadi, a lawyer with Navalny’s foundation tweeted this morning that he has no doubt that Navalny was poisoned due to his political stance. “There is no doubt that Navalny was poisoned because of his political stance and activity,” Gimadi said in a tweet.

This certainly is not the first time the opponent leader has been “attacked”.  In 2017 he was attacked by several men who threw antiseptic in his face, damaging one eye.

The Navalny foundation was leading the fight against corruption which had led to the exposure of a graft between the high government officials. However, the foundation was shut down last year when the leader lost a lawsuit against Yevgeny Prigozhin, a businessman with close ties to the Kremlin.
