Facebook is working to roll out the integration of its ‘Messenger Rooms’ in WhatsApp for Android. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the feature is currently visible only on WhatsApp version 2.20.163 beta for Android and for selected users. The update brings a new ‘Room’ option to the share menu inside the chat, which directs users to Messenger to create a room.

This has come after Facebook launched its Messenger Rooms to compete with Zoom and Houseparty in the last week of April. The Facebook Messenger Rooms allow 50 people to join in a group chat. The company had also declared that it would integrate Messenger Rooms on Instagram; however, it did not clarify the time.

The report said that to access the Facebook Messenger Rooms, the users have to open the chat share sheet and then find the “Room” button. It further noted that the Rooms shortcut has replaced the old Camera button which is still available in the chat bar. After selecting the Room option, a window is likely to appear which further explains the feature.

The Rooms are protected by Messenger’s encryption and other privacy controls. The user is informed about it when a new window is opened.
