England remains under tight pressure while preparing for the second round after its grand victory in the opening tests. Pakistan on the other hand means to play to win because losing would ensure England’s direct victory in the three-match Test series.
After their subsequent win at the toss, Pakistan chose to bat whereas England replaced Zak Crawley with Ben Stokes and Sam Curran in place of Jofra Archer.
James Anderson initiated the second Test with the ball against Shan Masood on strike. Anderson managed to get a swift wicket against Masood while England had their first breakthrough with the guests at 6/1.
Following a “bowling challenge,” after Stuart Broad was replaced by Chris Woakes, Azhar Ali nearly missed the ball and managed to survive before the England fielders broke into celebrations. Abid Ali too, remained lucky as he missed the bowlers at least thrice and hit two fours!
The match resumed after drinks and Pakistan surprised England with 50 up.
However, the player’s return from lunch is met with rain as the umpire signals for cover. The second session to continue with Stuart Broad completing his pending over while James Anderson will resume his bowling from the other end.
