Former Indian captain and commentator, Sunil Gavaskar on Thursday made some remarks on Virat Kohli during his commentary at KXIP and RCB’s match in Dubai. He commented knowingly or unknowingly, but it created a controversy as “Virushka” fans on twitter, took a dig on the former cricket legend.
Virat Kohli suffered a bad form during the match against KXIP. Kohli who is considered as one of the best fielders in the world dropped two crucial catches of the opposition skipper KL Rahul, who went on to hit a grand total of 132 runs off 69 balls.
This took the game far away from RCB. When RCB came to bat, then too Kohli was dismissed on just one run off five balls. And the team suffered a huge loss.
Gavaskar after Kohli’s wicket, made some personal remarks on the skipper, saying, “Ab jo lockdown tha toh, sirf Anushka ke bowling ki practice ki inhone, woh video dekhi hai, usse toh kuch nahi hona hai”
( During lockdown he only practiced on Anushka’s bowling, see the video, this is not going to work)-as stated in the Indian express. Gavaskar was caught attacking Virat and his wife Anushka Sharma. He took the reference of a video that went viral on social media, in which Virat and Anushka were seen playing cricket.
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s personal life has been in the limelight since the two started dating back in 2013. Anushka had been trolled before also when Kohli didn’t perform well.
Though this seems to be an unintentional statement from Gavaskar, he had to face the trolling now.
Anushka on Friday finally reacted to this comment on herself and her husband. And posted a message on her social media, asking questions to Sunil Gavaskar also she called his statement “distasteful”.
Replying to this, Gavaskar clarified that he was not blaming her.
