Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday has formulated a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the Hathras gang-rape incident. Adityanath has also asked the team to submit a report within seven days after which a fast-track court will begin hearing the case.
“The culprits of Hathras incident against the girl will not be let go. An SIT has been formed to investigate the matter and it will submit a report within seven days. To ensure early justice, the case will be run in a fast track court,” the CM informed in a tweet.
The CM informed that the development came after he talked to PM Modi on the issue. Modi reportedly directed him to ensure strict action against the culprits. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to me over Hathras incident, he said that strictest of action be taken against the culprits,” Yogi said.
The gang-rape victim was allegedly cremated by the UP police against the wishes of her family on the night of Tuesday. The 20-year-old Dalit woman was brutally raped by four “upper-caste” men two weeks ago. She had severe injuries and succumbed to death yesterday while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Delhi.
