Ex- APP Councillor Tahir Hussain has been sent to judicial custody, Tihar Jail following his arrest in relation to a money laundering case filed against him. The case alleged his involvement in the Delhi Riots case.
A single-judge bench led by Yogesh Khanna has straight away sent Hussain to the Tihar jail without seeking further custody. The move was appraised by Additional Solicitor General (ASG) S.V. Raju who is appearing as the ED in the case.
“We are not seeking his further custody and have handed him over to the Tihar Jail,” the ED said in a statement.
Hussain had challenged the trial court order by signing petitions when the submissions came in. He has been terminated from the post of Municipal Councillor of the Aam Aadmi Party while his membership has been canceled since August 27.
Hussain had further denied the charges calling it a political conspiracy due to his links with the AAP party.
