Retired IAS officer, Rajiv Kumar has assumed charge as the new election officer of India on Tuesday. Rajiv was earlier appointed for the same on 22nd august after the resignation of former EC, Ashok Lavasa.
Kumar from Jharkhand, will be the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) in the seniority commissioner (CEC) in the next general elections of 2024.
He will further be allied by chief election commissioner Sunil Arora and election commissioner Sushil Chandra regarding the roles and responsibilities of the task. Former EC Ashok Lavasa, on the other hand, will be moving to Manila to join Asian Development Bank as its vice president.
