The governing civic body of Mumbai, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday said that it has received complaints of a foul smell in multiple areas.

“We have received a couple of complaints of a suspected gas leak, from residents in Chembur, Ghatkopar, Kanjurmarg, Vikhroli & Powai,” the BMC said in a tweet.
According to a TOI report, BMC has lodged a reported gas leakage at US Vitamin company near Indira Apartment, Govandi.
BMC has asked citizens not to panic and to reach out to ward control rooms in case of any emergency.
It also advised to put a wet towel or cloth on face covering nose for those having problems due to the foul smell.
Earlier in the evening, several Mumbai residents complained of a foul smell in the Chembur area on Twitter.
Responding to the complaints, Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray responded to complaints on tweeted by saying, “The BMC disaster control room is locating the source and the Mumbai Fire Brigade is operating as per SoPs”
Manoj Kotak, who is a MP mentioned that 13 fire engines have been dispatched to look into the gas leak.
