The monsoon session 2020 of Parliament is all set to commence on Monday and will continue till October 1st amid the coronavirus pandemic. The session will have a total of 18 sittings over a period of 18 days.
It will include 45 bills and 2 financial items. “The Session will provide a total of 18 sittings spread over a period of 18 days (all the days including Saturdays and Sundays of the ensuing session will be working days) and a total of 47 items, including 45 bills and 2 financial items, have been identified for being taken up during the Monsoon Session, 2020,” the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs informed in an official statement.
This will be the first Parliament session to be held amid the Covid-19 pandemic and the guidelines for the same have also been issued. Four-hour sessions for each house will be conducted from 9 am to 1 pm for Rajya Sabha and 3 pm to 7 pm for Lok Sabha. However, tomorrow’s Lok sabha session will follow in the morning.
Proper social distancing norms will be followed and mobile apps for attendance of MPs are also expected to be introduced.
