CEO Tim Cook has announced the release date for the iOS 14 update. The announcement came during Apple’s virtual event that was held on Tuesday. Apple had unveiled the next generation iOS in June via one of its previous virtual events. Tuesday’s event also marked the release of the new Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch SE, iPad 8, and the iPad Air 4 as its new hardware offerings.
iOS 14, notably the “biggest update ever to Home Screen pages” will bring a new space to organize apps into one view called the App Library. It will also carry a redesigned widgets and interface for applications such as FaceTime, voice calls, and Siri interactions. The update will additionally allow Picture-in-Picture support to your iPhone.
While the release is set for September 16, the time of release was not revealed. However, according to sources, the iOS 14 update is expected to reach compatible iPhone models and the seventh-generation iPod touch at around 10:30 pm IST today.
Once it is launched, you can download the new iOS 14 update on your eligible iPhone or iPod touch by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
