Gangster, Feroz Khan while being escorted from Mumbai to Lucknow by the UP police died when the vehicle overturned after being hit by a ‘nilgai’ in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district.
Mumbai police had nabbed Khan from the Nallasopara area of Maharashtra’s Palghar district near Mumbai. He was booked under the Gangsters Act when a team of police from Lucknow had traveled to Mumbai to escort him on Friday.
The incident has caught national attention for its resemblance to the recent encounter of the renowned UP based gangster, Viskas Dubey that partook in July. The UP police had shot Dubey when he allegedly attempted to escape after the police vehicle had “overturned”.
Khan suffered serious injuries after the accident and was rushed to the hospital. However, the doctors declared him brought dead. Apart from Khan, two police personnel were also injured. They have been admitted to a hospital and are likely to be discharged on Monday.
Meanwhile, Khan’s body has been sent for post-mortem in Bhopal. It is expected to be brought back by Monday night or Tuesday morning.
