The Health Ministry has released the latest numbers on the coronavirus outbreak, and the total number of cases in India has now crossed the 1 lakh mark. It stands at 1,01,139, that’s an increase of 4970 cases in the last 24 hours alone. Off the 1,01,139, active cases stand at 58,802. The death toll has also gone up now from 3070 odd cases to 3,163.
39,173 people have recovered so far, and 144 people have died in the last 24 hours.
After 56 days of lockdown and 109 days since the first COVID case was reported in Kerala, India has climbed up to the 11th place in world tally for the most number of covid19 cases.
The number of cases is on the rise due to the fact that the govt has stressed on taking maximum tests at this point of time. India has constantly been fighting this pandemic since January, and over a period of time, it has brought new testing kits, and ventilators.
Maharashtra remains the worst affected state with over 35,000 confirmed cases, followed by Tamilnadu, Rajasthan and not to forget the UT, the national capital Delhi.
According to WHO, the numbers will rise in India, given the hygiene and sanitation in the country. Also, the number of migrant workers moving from one place to another despite carrying out all the precautions is a major contributor to the numbers.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has come out with new guidelines with many relaxations in areas which will be non-containment zones. Containment zones and buffer zones will continue to face very strict provisions and not much relaxations.
