CBI files supplementary charge sheet in AgustaWestland scam

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a supplementary charge sheet against 13 individuals including middlemen Christian Michel James and Rajiv Saxena, four IAF officials, and others in the AgustaWestland scam. This latest charge sheet mentions the role played by key middleman James in bribing politicians, IAF officials in the scandal.

The first charge sheet against the Rs 3,727 crore scandal was filed in September 2017. It named former IAF chief SP Tyagi along with others.

“CBI had established a “money trail” of 62 million euros out of suspected 67 million euros total bribe paid to Indians through middlemen. According to the agency, the irregularities in the award of the contract to AgustaWestland led to an estimated loss of 398.21 million euros to the Indian government in the 556.262 million euros contract,” cited Hindustan Times.

According to officials, a supplementary charge sheet will be filed against Sharma along with the others, once the sanction is accorded.
