An orange alert has been sounded in coastal Odisha, and West Bengal as super clone Amphan which is 520km of the south of Odisha’s coast is expected to make a landfall tomorrow.

The administration is evacuating people in coastal belts in view of strong winds and heavy rainfall. The IMD has informed that the cyclone with the wind speed ranging up to 185km per hour is likely to cause heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Home minister Amit Shah spoke to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and assured them full support from the center. Meanwhile, NDRF has already deployed 41 teams in Odisha and West Bengal. The Indian Coast Guard and the Navy have also deployed ships and helicopters for relief and rescue operations.

CM Mamata Banarjee has confirmed 3 lakh people have been evacuated in several districts in south Bengal.
